HOTEL / RESTAURANT FIRE EXTINGUISHERS

Hotel / restaurant considered as populated place, lot of people gathering in the same area. Fire hazards in hotel buildings may include overloaded electrical systems; overheated electronic and electrical equipment; leaking batteries; combustible materials being placed near equipment that generates heat, flame, or sparks; flammable liquids and aerosols. Electrical rooms are the highest probability where the fire may come from, but unfortunately frequently unguarded. Such rooms can use fire extinguisher like ABC Powder or CO2 . Foam fire extinguisher shall not be used for electrical rooms.

In premises where catering is one of the principal activities, almost twice as many fires occur in kitchens as in any other part of the building. The main fire hazard arising from food preparation is the use of heated fats and the risk of over-heating the fat due to operator error or failure of a thermostat in equipment. Deposits of grease building up in extract ducting and the fuel (gas, LPG or electricity) used for cooking can also be serious hazards. Dry goods and packaging also add to the risk of fire.
